About Me

Call me Ugo and don't stress to pronounce "Ugochukwu". As my second career, I became a nurse in 2007. Before then, I was a French teacher from 1976 till 1987 and I retired as a school principal in 2001. I enjoy my new career as a nurse having worked in different fields such as in Medical/Surgical Nursing,  Convalescent Hospital, the Pain Clinic at the Loma Linda University Medical Center,  and also in Home Health as well.

I am a mother of five angelic daughters who make my husband and I proud every day. As a matter of fact two of the five are graduating from college this June - one from UCLA (Pre-Med - Neuroscience) and the other from EMU in Michigan (Economics/Mathematics).

My area of concentration in this MSN program is in Public Health and my focus is on "Health Education for Self Management of Diabetes Type II". In the course of my previous classes, I have noted the much emphasis that is placed on the need for thorogh education as needed for diabetic patients which they hardly get from the fast pace in hospitals. I have therefore decided to join to educate patients and staff as empowerment to manage this disease.

My project for this class would be on teaching how to prepare a simple meal that is rich in vegetables. Although not a dietician, I intend to show just how simple and easy it could be for a diabetic patient to fix and enjoy a well balanced meal. Not only for diabetics, perhaps each of us should try out my recipe also especially since we all need to eat well, anyway.

I am glad to face the hurdles in this class as this would equip me to make my job more interesing as a someday Certified Diabetes Educator. Trust me also, I am equally getting ready to brag and show off to my kids when they return home on holidays. I cannot say it enough that this beginning is a big challenge for some of us but I hope the end would see us all as great "Technonurseducators!!!"

  1. You must be one proud mama, UCLA pre-med and EMU econ/math, those must be some bright young women you've raised! And I would LOVE to try your recipe; I'm just starting a new journey of health E eating and I'm trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet, so any tips are more than welcome.

So glad we're in this class together Ugo!

    1. Certainly it's not too late to acknowledge your compliments at this time. Only now I am a little confident to check around and "dot every I's as I cross each T's". But I cherish your kind words very much. As for my recipes, if time permits, I will definitely post them since I have now mastered to type it in on "New Post" and send it to the page I decide it should be.I could even prezitize it, having tried Prezi out yesterday. Otherwise, I will show one simple dish in my close cap video that is coming up very soon and don't worry, we could talk about the rest later.

  3. Yes my dear Stacy. My skill as a classroom teacher is a valid asset that I am able to transfer to my current nursing career. Any wonder I see myself leaning towards becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator. It is definitley true that "old habits die hard"? Thanks for requesting for my recipe oline. Let's leave it at what I have already discussed with Elena. There's yet a lot to catch up with.
