My script on Closed Caption Video making
With my closed caption video, I intended to show a cooking session with only plant based recipe. I was driven to do this project after I attended a small Wednesday Diabetes Group last summer, at the Beaver Medical Group in Redlands, California, where everyone was encouraged to discuss their peculiar recipes for tryouts by other members. I also watched the demonstrations on preparing several diabetes dishes at the “2011 Diabetes Expo”  last year in Los Angeles, California.
To me, those were practical methods of sharing healthy meal plans one with another.  My belief was therefore established that eating right does not mean starving or feeling guilty; instead, right choices of right food items would equally provide mouth-watering meals. I have decided to assist my diabetes patients in exploring unfamiliar recipes, realizing how much anxiety and deprivation most of them have expressed for not knowing simple ways  to satisfy their taste buds amidst the several unhealthy foods that abound everywhere.
Not only do I intend to teach my diabetes patients as a Certified Diabetes Educator, I also aspire to organize a community friendship among local women whereby we would come together from time to time to share our new found experiences with food.
My first step in planning this video was to list all the ingredients that I would need, having decided on the exact meal that I would prepare.  Being that this is a scholastic endeavor, it was pertinent that I research on facts to support my entire project.  My research findings were typed up and cited for use as I progressed in this assignment.
The next task was for an in-depth study on the implied technology for producing the video being that acquisition of such knowledge is the crux of this whole exercise.  Attempts with the different recommended gadgets/tools/softwares yielded the choice for the most preferred – “the iMovie”.

Oh, let me not fail to mention how helpful that class meeting was even though I skyped in as an "Out-of-towner", to discuss and share views with my team- spirited course mates.
Next step was the purchase and preparation of the meal while being filmed. (Before doing this, I had watched videos on “Youtube” just  to get some ideas from professional chefs on their presentations styles/ techniques). With the meal preparation over, I typed out the entire words that I said as I narrated my cooking process. This made my “closed caption” and my “Story Board” possible being that I merely had to “cut and paste”  my audio version as needed.  I watched the made video once again  for timing of each segment as needed again for my “Story Board” and for editing “closed captions”.
Still a lot to do ahead, duplicated my video on a jump drive, just to ensure that I have backing in case anything happens to my recording on the camera.  Secondly this also afforded me a handy storage of my work for use in editing.
As soon as I was ready to continue on this job, I imported the entire  video recording as raw footage, without any interruptions, into the “Event Browser” on iMovie which I found to be more user-friendly than “Camtasia”. Between the “Event Browser” and the “Project Window”, I edited my video, ensuring good results as I rolled my mouse over each segment  and verified completed works on  the “Viewer” section of the screen. I added my title, transitions, music, and stand alone  photos through different settings in the “Media” area, choosing my preferred title layout. I added video effects to either slow or speed up the “closed caption” to match up with not only my audio but also with the segment that is in view at each moment. I uploaded the concluded video unto “Youtube” where I clicked on “Share” to copy the needed code to embed it in my Blog. Wow!!!
The final part of this huge project was to do my “Story Board” which I had no idea of what I was supposed to do until at this last stage.  After filling out the top side of the form, I just copied and pasted my audio as I had compiled and aligned with the time frame for each segment. Completely tired and not knowing what to do with “GoogleDoc”, I borrowed ideas from my co-operative course mates who all saw to it that we all worked together, helaping one another to achieve our very best at the end.
All done with Closed Caption Video for now!!!

Thanks y'all!!!

  1. OMG! This is another big one! Finally done. Wait, wait, wait ... on opening this page each time, does anyone else get a scary warning that a program in this page is slowing down the computer and continued running may cause unresponsiveness of the computer?
